A consultation is needed when dealing with an existing behavioural problem. It is a more in depth procedure carried out by a consultant practioner, in this case Peter, where simple physical training has failed and there is a underlying physiological problem.
The reason for this is it is very important that the route cause of the unwanted behaviour is diagnosed correctly at the outset so that a correct treatment plan, involving the dog and owner, can be drawn up and implemented.
After all nobody wants a dog to be put down if it can be avoided.
